Announcements : HFD and CIHVA provide CPR/AED training to HIA members

Hauppauge, NY: July 12, 2005: Early defibrillation saves lives. The primary obstacle for early defibrillation is getting the defibrillator-and an operator- to the victim within a short minute. Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are a major step forward in emergency cardiac care (ECC) because they can be used effectively by persons with minimal training. Use of AEDs expands the range of rescuers with the ability to make early defibrillation a reality for the patient. On Thursday September 22, 2005 a class will be hosted by the Hauppauge Fire Department at their main firehouse on Wheeler Road. Members of the Central Islip Hauppauge Volunteer Ambulance will be volunteering their time to train attendees in CPR and AED procedures. For more information on this program or the Hauppauge Industrial Association please contact the HIA at (631) 543-5355.
