Hauppauge, (July 29, 2007) With dollars secured from Leg. John Kennedy to the Hauppauge Fire Department for voice miters, fire department officials invited Leg. Kennedy to an onsite training in the use of this valuable equipment. The money used from his grant went towards voice miters for the masks of our firefighters. The fire department purchased approx. 30 of these devices that are attached to the breathing masks and allows the firefighters the capability of communicating clearly with each other while wearing their masks. The device amplifies the voice so it can be heard. www.Hauppaugefire.org

Hauppauge, NY (January 8, 2007) Two years ago when I was serving with the Marines in Iraq my eight year old niece Jackie came up with the idea to send me Girl Scout cookies to give out to the troops. In her first year she sent me 600 boxes. Last year she sent 770 boxes to the troops. This year she is hoping for over 1000.I can tell you first hand how much the troops appreciated this little bit of home. The smiles that I saw on their faces were priceless, expresses Mr. Harten with pride. The Hauppauge Fire Department is honored to have been asked to assist Firefighter Harten and his niece Jacqueline with this endeavor. I would like to reach out to anyone who reads this request to please help. We hope that businesses as well as individuals will participate. I would like to make a special shout-out to all First Responders, who never hesitate to help when called upon, asks Hauppauge Fire Department Chief Ray Woods, Jr. The cost of a box of cookies is $3.50. The order will be placed on January 23rd. If you would like to help please send a personal check or money order made out to the Girl Scouts of Nassau County. Mail your donation directly to Girl Scout Jacqueline Harten at 19 Buckner Ave., Hicksville, NY 11801. Unless otherwise directed by you, a label with your name and address will be on placed on each box you purchase. The troops often send very warm and appreciative letters to the people who's names are on the boxes. www.hauppaugefire.org |
